Easy to fill and assemble, easy to check progress of evaporation with marks on the bottle. Low profile allows use under an empty feeder.
Application
Fill bottle up to the recommended mark on the bottle. Add dropper and close securely. Keep bottle at ambient temperature. Once at the apiary, adjust the paper wick in function of outside temperature and hive size. Place paper on the support and fix the support on the open bottle. Place Liebig dispense upside down on top of the brood frames. Check evaporated volume on day two. Adjust paper wick accordingly. Important: Adding a second wick of same size on top of the first paper wick will almost double the evaporation volume. Best results will be achieved at temperatures between 20 °C and 25 °C.
Treatment profile
Formic acid vapours act fast on Varroa. Varroa mite fall peaks on the second and third day. The use of formic acid may cause brood interruption. Vapours may cause some fatal damage to brood and emerging bees. Occasional Queen loss has been observed with shock treatment and at elevated temperatures. Formic acid acts only while vapours are generated and present. After the treatment vapours are removed by ventilating bees and the action stops. Since formic acid is soluble in water it will be found as residue in honey and nectar present during treatment also in capped honey cells. Feeding during treatment may lead to robbery.
